We have been bombarded with so many messages over the past few weeks about COVID-19 that maybe you have become a little numb … or maybe we call it adjusting to a new routine. Yesterday, I had a conversation with one of our long time child sponsors that really opened my eyes to how love continues through this time of “social distancing” and quarantine – let me share it with you.
A sponsor called to let us know that he was changing his bank account and needed to change to his monthly bank draft. After taking his bank’s details, he shared that he was actually home in quarantine with COVID-19. After telling him that we (our board of directors and Agape Asia leadership) would be praying for him, he said “that would be great, I would appreciate it – but, you know I really am encouraged to be able to pray for and keep in touch with the child I’m sponsoring – he gives me hope!”
Wow. It was moving to hear someone being directly impacted by COVID-19, quarantined at home, yet so focused on ensuring that he continues to walk along with his child on life’s journey. Again, I gain such great perspective hearing your stories and the children you are caring for. You are truly proving that through all seasons in life “love goes the distance.”
Today, we have several new children in Myanmar who have escaped the ravages of ethnic fighting in their country, whose parents have either died or abandoned them. These children are in need of someone who will walk with them on life’s journey.
Meet five-year-old Lal Mar Pawi. Both of her parents died and she was found by a neighbor wandering around behind her house. A neighbor brought her to live at Timothy’s home in Yangon. With your support, we can ensure she has a home, a family to give her the love she needs, and hope for a future.
Will you become a sponsor for one of these children?
