There are two time sensitive needs in Mongolia to share with you.
One is an orphanage in the countryside several hours outside of Ulaanbaatar. Started in 2006, it has given approximately 100 children a home since then – today they care for 20 orphans aged 3 to 17. It is totally sustained by the local community. Unfortunately they had a fire recently that destroyed the home. Reconstruction is about 60% complete, but they are out of funds. We are hoping to help raise the remaining $7,000 to finish their home. With winter fast approaching, this will be a challenge.
The second opportunity is in the children’s prison that we have been working with since January. Their toilets for 50 children are not functional and in need of rebuilding – they are not funded for this by the government. They have asked us to provide $1,200 to improve the toilets now to get them through the winter. Then, we hope to raise the needed $10,000 to rebuild them new toilets in the spring. This will be a major challenge, but we know God will provide for this significant need.
