“A bird sings not because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song,”- the old Chinese wisdom says.
We are telling you the stories of the children we help every day, not because we know how to fix the whole wide world, feed all the poor or heal all the sick – but because we have a story to tell, and because you are the part of this story.
This month you changed the lives of several families in China.
On July 7th, three-year-old Xu Guanxin had a successful heart surgery, and now that the little girl is in recovery, her father Xu Zhongfei and mother Zuao Ritian are endlessly grateful for a $2,000 donation that had forever and always changed their daughter’s life. With an annual income of less than $600, the young family of rural farmers was losing their faith, struggling to provide the food, medicine and keep the modest roof over their heads. Agape Asia works directly with hospitals to recognize families like Xu’s, and because of kindness and generosity of people who work with the organization and your financial support, Xu Guanxin can now continue singing her song and telling her story.
“I need help to get through this storm,” – how many times every one of us has said those words at one point or another? How many times have we felt weak, desperate, and broken? How many times a kind hand of a family member, a friend, or even a stranger would have reached out to help us up? Kindness travels the oceans, and this month it’s found the family He Zianying, Huang Aifen and their son He Jibin who was approved for a heart surgery. With a household of 6 people and annual income of about $735, increasing prices of insurance and worsening of their son’s heart condition, He’s mother reached out saying: “We desperately hope you can help us through this storm,” – and your kindness has answered.
Summer breeze also brought good news from Guangxi Wu De Xiang, China. Small rural farmers’ county celebrates another amazing deed of Agape Asia and everyone who works with us. The good news is another story that might seem so small on the map of the world but so big and vital on the map of a kind heart. Huang Xianyu, a four-year-old little girl had her heart surgery done on July 7th. Her recovery is going well, and her parents Huang Rihui and Huang Liyu are sending their gratitude and prayers. Their modest home with a minimum of furniture, their consistent struggle with money and hard farming job – every difficulty today for them seems a thousand times smaller, just like Huang’s heart is beating a thousand times stronger.
Every story of success, no matter how big or small it is, is a story that touches hearts and changes lives. It’s their story, it’s our story, it’s your story.
