Yi Chen is a 2-year-old boy from a poor family in Gansu Province in China. He was diagnosed with VSD (pediatric ventricular septal heart defect) and his family was unable to pay for his surgery or medical care. He has an older brother and his parents are poor farmers. On about one acre of land, they plant corn, potatoes, wheat and other vegetables. His father also works some part time jobs when he is not farming. The total yearly income for the family is less than $1,200 a year. This is barely enough to cover food (besides the crops they grow), clothes, necessities and school for his older brother. They have no excess funds for medical conditions or surgery so they asked for help from Agape Asia Foundation.
Yi Chen had successful open heart surgery February 16th at the No. 1 Affiliated Hospital Medical School, Xian Jiaoting University in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China. He was discharged four days later.
Now Yi Chen can live a normal life and grow up like other children. Thank you for your generous donations to help poor children in China like him.
