Yu Bo Wei
This 11-month-old boy, Yu Bo Wei, had heart surgery 11/20/15 at Xijing Hospital in Xi’an, China and was discharged 11/28. The surgery was successful and we are happy to report that he is doing fine now.
Yu Bo Wei’s village is located in a remote mountainous area in north Shaanxi province. His family has some land where they plant corn, potatoes, and other crops. Their total income from crops is the equivalent of about $1,200 (US dollars) per year. His father works as a temporary worker in a local city when it is not the busy farming season to supplement their income. He typically works on a construction site or performs other kinds of physical work that is available that time of year. He makes an extra $800 on average during this period through his work in the city. Yu Bo Wei’s mother stays at home and takes care of the family while working the land. His grandparents are elderly and help with housework and planting as they can. Their low income and debt made it impossible for them to raise money for Yu Bo’s surgery.
We are very happy to have been able to assist getting this child the life-saving surgery he needed, and are happy to report that the successful surgery has left him happy and healthy.
