Si Zhe Wen
This 8-year-old boy had heart surgery in Guilin, China at the Affiliated Hospital of Guilin Medical University on 11/27/15. He was discharged 12/1/15 and is doing well since his surgery.
His home is located in a small village in northern Guangxi province. There are 6 people in his family, including his grandparents, parents, and his uncle who is only 17-years-old. Their house is small, and has one living room and two bedrooms. The roof of his house leaks when it rains heavily. His grandfather just had surgery recently for a kidney stone. His family owns a small area of land to plant crops and only enough food to feed the family. His grandparents and mother stay at home to plant and take care of him due to his heart condition. His father didn’t go to high school and has very few skills, so he has to go to Guangdong Province to work in a factory to earn money to pay for his children’s education and his family’s living expenses. His father’s salary is equal to about $350 (US dollars) per month – not enough to also pay the cost of Si Zhe’s surgery.
Si Zhe is in the 2nd grade. He was given 2-3 weeks off from school so he could have this surgery. He is looking forward to getting back to school with his friends.
We are happy to have been able to be a part of giving another child a chance at life, please join us in our mission.
