Hongsheng is being treated by Dr. Fearon at the Medical City Dallas Hospital. He recently had surgery in December of 2015 for 2-1/2 hours on his left eye and nose. The doctor worked on getting the corners of his eyes level and added a small piece of rib bone to his nose to give it additional structure and function. The Dr. also created an arc in his nose to make it more aesthetic during the process.
Hongsheng is due in about 6 months for a follow up and potential cleft palate surgery. Following a very successful surgery he was only experiencing pain at the rib bone donor site. He went back for a checkup December 28th and seems to be doing quite well.
In March 2011, he returned to Medical City Hospital in Dallas, TX for a staph infection. He did not have a normal immune system to fight off infections from his surgeries, due to his poor dietary habits from birth. This condition is unfortunately true of a large percentage of poor Chinese children.
