We found He Qiao when she was 11 years old. Her father had died when she was six and her mother died when she was nine. Her grandparents were caring for her, but they were not able to provide for her.
Qiao has been in our foster care program now for 11 years. Over the years, her reports told us more about this sweet young girl who has matured into a young lady. In middle school, she was in the top of her grade and hoped to attend the best high school in Xian, just below her mountain village school. During summer holidays, she worked in a canteen making steamed bread to help pay for her school tuition. When she was in high school, her grandfather earned barely enough to provide for himself and her grandma.
During college years, Qiao said receiving support from her sponsors helped save time so she was able to learn more instead of working a part-time job to pay for all of her expenses. She said the best she could do to reward her sponsors was to study hard and become a useful person in the future like her sponsors who have helped her for so many years.
This year, Qiao graduated from college with a Bachelor Degree in Management. She specialized in logistics and has a job with a company in Xian City.
Your support has changed the lives of these impoverished students. Without your support, Qiao would not have the opportunity to attend school and graduate from college.
